Frysk Ynternasjonaal Kontakt is a youth association which aims to make Frisian youngsters aware of their own language and culture. International contacts are a prominent means to reach this goal. By meeting other young people who are from small language communities as well, you can discover the surplus value of your own language and culture. Besides, it can be stimulating to know there are more minority communities in Europe. Apart from the international activities, the members can also take part in many organized events in Fryslân itself.

If this appeals to you and you want to know more about FYK, here is your opportunity. FYK invites you to take part in its array of activities and to meet other people.

Fryslân and Frisian youngsters are what the following activities focus on:
- meetings with an informative and a sports element.
- the annual midsummer FYKweekend where we meet each other and enjoy Frisian nature and culture.
- organizing summercamps in collaboration with other associations and institutes.
- joint visits to Frisian cultural activities, such as theatre or rock music.
- the newsletter for members, which informs about all news items and events, as seen by participating members. 

International activities are the exchanges with young people from other regions.
We are their guests and of course they are our guests as well. The exchanges are most often in summer, and can comprise of e.g. mountain hiking and bicycle treasure hunts. Every year an Easter Seminar is organized somewhere in Europe by one of the member associations of the YEN (Youth of European Nationalities). YEN is the umbrella organization of minority language youth associations in Europe. 

Contact is of paramount importance. Personal contacts with young people at home and abroad find their expression in wonderful parties, deep conversations and nights full of joy, humor, music and song. Openness and friendship over frontiers are our objectives. 

For who is FYK intended?

- For everyone from 15 till 35 years old who agree with FYK’s aims and want to take part in the activities themselves.
- For people over 35 who want to support our association and would like to be kept informed about its activities.

What does it cost?

- For € 25 a year you can become a member (in the first year € 20 is enough).
- Commitment and enthusiasm for the organization, for which you get nice and good contacts in return.
